Posting Youtube/Vimeo videos on TSR

Let's say you have a link like one of the following:

http://www.youtube.com/embed/18gElAzSL4E
http://youtu.be/18gElAzSL4E
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18gElAzSL4E

You need to get the video id. It's the numbers and letters that tell which video to play. I highlighted them in yellow above in the examples.

Put the id after the youtube watch address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

You end up with code that looks like this:

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18gElAzSL4E[/youtube]

The final result is this:

If you have a Vimeo video link like this: http://vimeo.com/73910594

You can click on the share button, advanced options and click the "Use old embed code" link. It will give you a bunch of code but you just need the player link part of code for the flash tag:

This is what you need to make it work. It's the domain, the video player itself (moogaloop.swf), the play command (?clip_id=) and the number of the video you want to play. The flash tag just needs you to add the size you want. 640,360 is the most common size on vimeo but you can adjust those to suit.

It skews the aspect ratio. I think it's still set on old youtube settings. So you link a 16:9 video and it crunches it up and looks like crap. Click the link and you get full size vid. If you go to where you did it on my dirt bike post, click the link and look at the video size vs. the embedded size and it's totally different. Hence why I just link them. :smile
